Glavna razlika između inženjerskog tj. višeslojnog parketa i klasičnog (masivnog) parketa je u samoj konstrukciji. Višeslojni parket sastoji se od dva ili tri sloja drveta, spojenih pod uglom of devedeset stepeni. Gornji sloj parketa je izrađen od tvrdog drveta poput hrasta, jasena, bukve, evropskog oraha, crnog oraha, itd. Dok je srednji i donji deo izrađen takođe od drveta. Drvo jele, bora, smrke ili ruske breze koristi se za izradu srednjeg i donjeg, odnosno zadnjeg sloja.

Za razliku od klasičnog (Eng. solid wood flooring) višeslojni parket (Eng. multilayer wood flooring) je vrlo jednostavan i efikasan za ugradnju. Isporučuje se u gotovim pločama različitih duzina i širina. Postoje dve opcije, koristiti lepak ili pak najsavremeniji T-lok sistem koji obezbeđuje sigurnu, nevidljivu i jaku vezu za spajanje. Inženjerski parket izrađen je od 100% drveta za razliku od vinilnih podova i drugih jeftinih vrsta poput laminata. On nudi čiste i ujednačene površine.
